Construction work is considered as one of the most dangerous professions, and the job sites are where accidents can most likely occur. However, a lot of these hazards can be avoided or handled properly with up-to-date safety training of staff.
This July, Vision Properties Development Corporation (VPDC)’s Safety Officers recently attended Loss Control Management Training and Advanced Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Control (HIRAC) Training. According to VPDC Corporate ESH Sr. Supervisor - OIC Ryan Ace Revidad, these programs aim to improve the quality of safety and safety performance by means of advance training through DOLE accredited training organizations. VPDC set out to upgrade its Safety Officers 2 to Safety Officers 3 in compliance with DO198 Series of 2018 Republic Act No. 11058 Section 14 Safety Officer, to be implemented across all VPDC sites.

Aside from these, VPDC’s staff also attended Occupational First Aid and Basic Life Support Training by the Philippine Red Cross. This, as we improve safety performance in the case of emergency response requiring immediate first aid or medical attention. Participants are mostly from operations since they are the one involved and are at high exposure to hazards. This is also in compliance with DO198 Series of 2018 Republic Act No. 11058 Section 15 Occupational Health Personnel and Facilities, wherein covered workplaces shall have qualified occupational health personnel such as first-aiders.

All training programs were done prior to Enhanced Community Quarantine and all the trainers and participants adhered to safety protocols and precautions during the training programs.
Safety and resulting employee productivity is often overlooked when looking for means to improve a company's profitability. Safety training is a must, and it is critical for staff -- even seasoned veterans -- to attend safety training programs on a regular basis. Aside from keeping your workers safe, cultivating a safe workplace or job site can reduce overall construction costs. Examples of these benefits are higher engagement, lower turnover rate, no lost time due to injury, compliance to laws, and more.
Safety is one of the core values of VPDC. It is committed to delivering quality in every project it undertakes -- always safe and always reliable.
With regular safety training for VPDC key staff and workers, its sites and offices can better practice safety while maintaining industry standards, and optimize productivity. Investing in and upgrading VPDC’s safety performance is an ongoing effort across all its job sites and offices.
